2012 has begun at a fast and furious pace for our Stewardship program. With two full scale events having already taken place and hundreds of additional volunteer hours dedicated to putting together the Sutro Nursery I feel like we'll be ready to cruse through the rest of the year at a slower pace.
I need to acknowledge and thank the Sutro Stewards team members who turned out to supervise and support our February 4th stewardship event. Many of our original crew leaders were present including Rob Bakewell, Tom Bordon, Marcy Keever, Christina Morato, Bob Siegel and Aaron Thies. Working alongside of them are some of our newer members who have begun to lend their expertise to our projects including John Hickman and Alex Zeh using their carpentry skills on nursery projects, and Jason Biteng and Juliana Cammarata who worked a new trails project. Finally it's folks like Scott Ling and other event directors from One Brick who continue to introduce hundreds of volunteers to our form of stewardship every year.
However it's the volunteers, all 44 who turned out, that provide the dedication, muscle and finesse to our projects. Take a look through the photo album for the February 4th event and you'll see many familiar faces pulling weeds, pushing loaded wheelbarrows, or delicately constructing mist-tables or laying brick for the nursery.
I always conclude our events by saying THANK YOU! Sometimes it just doesn't seem like enough when I revisit the work sites and marvel at how much we accomplish during a few short hours on a Saturday morning.

Thanks Again!
