The Orb Weaver or Pumpkin Spider has returned to Rotary Meadow just in time for Halloween. Those familiar with the annual cycles on Mount Sutro learn quickly NOT to wonder off the pathways in Rotary Meadow during the fall. On more than one occasion these plump spiders have hitched a ride on the unwary, making for a nasty surprise when spotted. They have a tendency to climb rapidly up toward the neck. OK, you've been warned!

Oh, I've seen those guys! Not on Sutro, though, but more near Twin Peaks, also Lands End area. Took some pics of them and their webs - talented little architects! Thought they were harmless. Do they bite?
