Recology and Zero Waste works for Us

If you've visited or volunteered at the propagation nursery we started this year you've seen and used many materials supplied by our partner Recology. We have everything from green compost cans (salvaged due to holes in them) to drip irrigation supplies, plant containers and tons of gravel, all has been diverted from the waste stream and put to good use up on Mount Sutro. Ideally in a zero waste world we complete a full cycle from use to reuse, again and again. For many years now we have filled the big green waste dumpsters with weeds, ivy, blackberry and everything that has seeds we don't want to scatter. Now the cycle will be complete as we take delivery of the composted material to mix with our soil for planting our seedlings. Non of this would be possible or as practical without the Recology program here in San Francisco. Consider all of this when you cast your vote on June 5th.
