Welcome to Our New Executive Director

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

Please help us welcome Sutro Stewards’ new Executive Director, Amy Kaeser!

A familiar face to many of you, Amy has worked with us for the past two years as Conservation Program Manager where she was busy leading habitat and conservation projects, guiding public hikes, applying for grants, and designing the website and newsletter.

Here’s what Amy has to say about her new role:

________

I am honored to step into the role of Executive Director with Sutro Stewards. It is a privilege to be part of an organization with such a strong foundation created over the past ten years, and I am excited to lead this organization into its next chapter.

I joined Sutro Stewards in early 2015 in the then-new position of Conservation Program Manager. Since then, I have had the pleasure to work with some of the most dedicated volunteers and supportive partners to create new habitat restoration sites, clear and connect new trails, plant thousands of native plants, and much more.

Now as I take on the position of Executive Director, I look forward to continuing our mission, building our programs, and further connecting with our community.

The mission to create urban recreational opportunities while practicing sustainable habitat conservation through stewardship is a common thread throughout our programs and among our staff. Stewardship is an active concept, and we need you to be a part of the progress too. We look to you to be involved and to spread your passion for Mount Sutro and urban open spaces. As a volunteer-based organization, we are a team and we truly celebrate our achievements with all of you – our volunteers, neighbors, and partners.

Mount Sutro is a special place for many of us, and an important resource as a place to play, a place to escape city life, a place to wander, and a place to get lost. We want to make sure that we steward these resources not just for ourselves, but for future generations as well.

As summer encourages you to get outside, remember to give back to the places that offer you recreational joy. Lend a hand at a volunteer event and give back to trails and habitat. Make a generous donation to support local community stewardship. Get involved with Sutro Stewards and share your experience and expertise on our advisory board – we are reinvigorating our board to help guide our efforts and the next chapter of Sutro Stewards. Contact me to find out how you can make a big impact on Sutro Stewards’ board!

I look forward to strengthening our programs and developing new and impactful projects with our fantastic staff, partners, and volunteers.

I hope to see you at an event or on the trail soon.

Amy Kaeser

Executive Director
