We are excited to welcome Kelly Dodge (she/her/hers) into the role of Stewardship Coordinator. Kelly will be supporting all our volunteer programs, with a focus on conservation and nursery programs. Learn more about Kelly!
Hello! My name is Kelly and I’m the new stewardship coordinator. I grew up in Orange County, California, where I was extremely lucky to have regular access to nature. There was a wilderness preserve right behind my neighborhood that I would often sneak off into with friends to explore the trails and creeks. I also had access to fantastic and pristine beaches that I would regularly frequent. I saw their beauty, and so they became very important to me. These places made me feel much more connected to nature, especially to Californian habitats. I knew that nature was always going to play a big role in my life.
I moved up here and attended San Francisco State. In 2018, I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies, concentrating in natural resource management and conservation. Through my courses, I began to have a deeper appreciation for the uniqueness of San Francisco habitats. I also discovered my love for field work.
Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of being the conservation intern here at Sutro Stewards. While interning, I’ve seen how truly unique and precious Mount Sutro is. From rare native plants to the trails and special rock features, the open space has so much to offer. I have also met some truly amazing and caring people. It has been inspiring to work with dedicated volunteers who are passionate about change. I am beyond excited to expand my role in protecting and conserving this open space for future visitors.
I look forward to working with you all!
