Get more involved with the Sutro Stewards trails program and grow your trails knowledge with this year’s Advanced-Topics Crew Leader Training. This training is geared toward experienced trails volunteers and crew leaders who already have some experience working on trails or leading crews, but all are welcome to attend this full day training on October 26th, 2024 (9 am to 3 pm) hosted on Mt. Sutro. We will cover how to go about scouting, surveying, and designing trail alignments, and what special considerations should be taken into account when developing multi-use trails.
Example of raw landscape before and after trail design
We will instruct trainees on common native habitat, how to distinguish commonly mistaken invasives from native plants, and best practices for maintaining a sustainable interface between habitat and trail corridors. Last, we will tackle some technical rock construction projects with some hands-on practice.
Building rock walls and moving heavy things - all key elements of trail building and maintenance.
This year’s training will expand on our introductory Crew Leader Training, allowing us to expand our areas of instruction, so we are excited to host this fall’s trainees and grow your knowledge. If you are interested, sign up here!
