Coastal Buckwheat or seaside buckwheat is an evergreen perennial native to the coastal slopes and scrub of the western United States. This charming plant is a wonderful addition to any coastal garden where it will grow to 3 feet wide and 2 feet tall mound.  In the summer and fall, white and pinkish pom pom-like flowers emerge on single stalks reminiscent of strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. Plant this species in full sun in coastal gardens or part shade in inland gardens. This species serves as a host plant for Coastal Green Hairstreak, Acmon Blue, Blue Copper, and many more butterfly and moth species!
